For Freeman, it was another opportunity to show what he can do against elite competition. For SAI Academy, it was another moment to celebrate one of our own.
A Standout Performance Against Real Madrid
Facing a club with Real Madrid’s history and talent is no small challenge. Freeman rose to the occasion, putting together a performance that stood out across the pitch.
His numbers tell the story:
- 18 defensive contributions, the most in the match
- 93 touches, the most of any player
- 91% passing accuracy
- 48 completed passes
- 100% success rate on long balls, completing all 3 attempts

Freeman demonstrated his ability to contribute defensively, maintain possession, distribute the ball effectively, and compete physically against top-level opposition.

Despite the result, his individual performance earned well-deserved recognition, with FotMob awarding him an 8.4 rating and Man of the Match honors.
From SAI Academy to European Soccer
Freeman’s performance is another milestone in a journey that has taken him from SAI Academy to the highest levels of the sport.
As a former SAI student, Freeman represents what can happen when young athletes pursue ambitious goals while continuing to develop as students and competitors. His path has included professional soccer in the United States, international competition with the U.S. Men’s National Team, and a move to European soccer.
Now competing with Valencia CF in Spain, Freeman is continuing to test himself against some of the best players and clubs in the world.
His journey is a powerful example for aspiring student-athletes who are working toward their own goals, whether that means playing professionally, competing at the collegiate level, or finding a way to balance academic success with athletic development.
